What are the mission and vision statements of First Gen?

What are the major assets of First Gen?

First Gen's major assets include the following: 100% interest in the 1000MW Santa Rita natural gas plant; 100% interest in the 500MW San Lorenzo natural gas plant; 49% economic interest in Energy Development Corporation; and 100% effective interest in the 1.6MW Agusan mini-hydro plant.

Where are the First Gen assets located?

All of First Gen's assets are located in the Philippines. The Santa Rita, San Lorenzo, Pantabangan-Masiway, and EDC's Bacman geothermal production field are all located in the island of Luzon. EDC's Leyte, Southern Negros, and Northern Negros geothermal production fields are located in the Visayas. First Gen also has assets in the island of Mindanao through the Mindanao geothermal production field and FG Hydro mini-hydro plant in the province of Bukidnon.


Does First Gen have a legislative franchise to construct, install, own, operate and maintain natural gas pipelines?

In January 2001, Republic Act No. 8997 was enacted, granting First Gas Holdings Corporation, First Gen's 100%-owned subsidiary, a legislative franchise to "construct, install, own, operate and maintain" pipeline systems for the transportation and distribution of natural gas throughout the island of Luzon. The Franchise is the only specific legislative franchise granted by the Philippine Congress for the island of Luzon and is an important part of First Gen's strategy to enter into the downstream natural gas transmission and distribution business. The Franchise is for a term of 25 years and expires on February 25, 2026.

In September 2005, FGHC assigned, transferred, and conveyed this franchise and all rights, title, interests, privileges and obligations to First Gas Pipeline Corporation.

What is the fiscal year of First Gen?

The fiscal year of First Gen begins on the first day of January and ends on the last day of December of each year.

How is First Gen committed to quality?

First Gen's operations are subject to extensive, evolving and increasingly stringent safety, health and environmental laws and regulations.

In 2004, the Santa Rita and San Lorenzo plants were awarded the Don Emilio Abello Energy Efficiency Award by the DOE. In addition, the Santa Rita and San Lorenzo plants comply with standards, set by the International Organization of Standards (ISO) of Geneva. Both plants are certified for compliance with ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management), 14001:2004 (Environmental Management), and OHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupational Health and Safety Management).

In November 2006, the Integrated Management System (IMS) of FG Bukidnon’s Agusan mini-hydro plant was certified by TUV-SUD PSB for compliance with ISO 9001:2000 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management System) and OHSAS 18001:1999 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System). In February 2010, TUV SUD PSB recertified FG Bukidnon for compliance with ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, and OHSAS 18001:2007. TUV SUD In June 2009, Certification International of the Philippines (CIP), an accredited ISO certifying body, certified First Gen Hydro Power Corporation as compliant with the requirements of the latest version of the three international standards for Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2008), Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2004) and for Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSAS 18001:2007).  

In 2009, First Gen underwent the rigorous recertification audit conducted on its standards by AJA Registrars (Phils.), Inc., the local affiliate of UK-based independent certification body AJA Registrars Limited. The recertification audit checked First Gen’s conformance with norms set under ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management System). AJA Philippines completed the recertification audit without finding any nonconformance issues in the ISO processes of First Gen, thereby reaffirming First Gen's adherence to the highest standards set by the ISO.

Does First Gen have a Manual on Corporate Governance?

Yes. First Gen's Manual on Corporate Governance has been in effect since February 24, 2005. Among the items instituted by First Gen in accordance with the Manual of Corporate Governance are: election of two independent directors, formation of the committees on Audit, Nomination and Governance, Compensation and Remuneration committees, and the setting up of a compliance system.
