BUSINESS MIRROR: ISO Certification for First Gen unit
August 10, 2009

First Gen Hydro Power Corporation (FG Hydro), a subsidiary of Lopez-controlled First Gen Corp., recently received full certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2008) for its environmental management system (ISO 14001:2004) and occupational health and safety management system (OHSAS 18001:2007). The certifications reflects FG Hydro is operator of the 112-megawatt Pantabangan-Masiway hydroelectric complex in Nueva Ecija. First Gen, the Philippines’ leading clean and renewable energy company, maintains its own ISO certifications, which were obtained in 2003. The ISO certification for FG Hydro is particularly laudable as this represents a significant milestone for a recently privatized asset. First Gen holds a direct 40-percent stake, while subsidiary Energy Development Corporation (EDC) controls 60 percent, of FG Hydro. Photo shows Paul Aquino (second from left), EDC chief executive officer, receiving the ISO certifications from Renato V. Navarrete (fifth from left), Certification International Philippines managing director. Also in photo are (from left) Dennis P. Gonzales, First Gen vice president; Michael C. Young, First Gen vice president and concurrent FG Hydro general manager; Richard P. Difuntorum, FG Hydro plant manager; and Richard B. Tantoco, EDC president and chief operating officer (COO), as well as First Gen executive vice president and COO.
